They Join Academy Award® Winner Quentin Tarantino as Award Recipients


Los Angeles, CA, December 18 – Producer/writer/director Baz Luhrmann and Samuel L. Jackson join Academy Academy Award® Winning
writer/director/producer Quentin Tarantino in being presented with The Capri Legend Award at the 13th Capri, Hollywood – Honda International Film Festival, the festival’s highest honor, it was announced today by Festival Chairman and producer Mark Canton (300, Spiderwick Chronicles, A Perfect Getaway, War of Gods, Fame)
and Festival Director Pascal Vicedomini.
Luhrmann and Jackson will attend screenings of their latest projects at
the Fest: Australia, starring Nicole
Kidman and Hugh Jackman and The Spiritin which Jackson stars with Scarlett Johansson, Eva Mendes.


‘As with his current film ’Australia,’ Baz Lurhmann continues to carve out his own unique path in the film industry, making visually stunning and epic productions,’ said Canton. ‘Samuel L. Jackson has become one of Hollywood’s greatest actors, giving knockout performances with every new role.’ Added Vicedomini, ‘We are honored to have these two great talents at Capri, Hollywood – a fitting addition to our top tier international attendees.’

Among Baz Luhrmann’s rich body of work are the three films that make up his ‘Red Curtain Trilogy,’ Strictly Ballroom,
Romeo & Juliet
and Moulin Rouge
(which earned him an Oscar nomination) as they all were presented in his
particular style of filmmaking. Australia, Luhrmann’s latest epic film in which he re-teams with Nicole Kidman along with Hugh Jackman, has received critical acclaim worldwide.

Since
his breakout performance in Pulp Fiction, for which he received an Oscar nomination, Samuel L. Jackson, has continued to distinguish himself with stellar performances. From playing the ‘heavy’ to an action hero, Jackson is a favorite of audiences worldwide, producing an incredible body of work, including such films as The Long Kiss Goodnight, Die
Hard: With a Vengeance, Jackie Brown, Jungle Fever
and Mo’ Better Blues.

Quentin Tarantino has remained one of Hollywood’s edgiest talents since the successes of his 1992 cult film Reservoir Dogs and the 1994 Cannes Film Festival Palme D’Or winner Pulp fiction which also earned him an Oscar for Best Original
Screenplay. His unique style of filmmaking has become synonymous with his name,
producing a body of work that includes pop culture hits such as Kill Bill Volume I, II, Grindhouse, Jackie Brown, Deathproof

It is produced by Pascal Vicedomini together with the Istituto Capri nel Mondo and Azienda Turismo di Capri, in association with Sangemini holding, Kimbo, Casino di Venezia and with the support of the General Department of Cinema of the Ministry of Culture and of the Councillorship of Tourism and Cultural Assets of the Region Campania, the Chamber of Commerce of Capri and with the patronage of the City of Capri and the Municipality of Anacapri.
